The fishermen featured in the film Food Delivery are from Calapandayan, Subic, Zambales. Stories from the film show how daily lives of ordinary people living 2.5 hours away from Manila are threatened by maritime tensions on the West Philippine Sea. Reports from the community also reveal that the increasing frequency and intensity of typhoons only further put lives and livelihoods at risk, leaving most without income and food.
Many feel helpless and unprotected, their voices rarely amplified in mainstream narratives focused on state rivalry or military standoffs.
We are working to change this. Together with Arlene Satam, wife of featured fisherman Arnel Satam, we hope to organize the community to provide short-term assistance and explore possible long-term initiatives. The list of families you see in the photo was provided by her.

Fishermen can't go out to sea when storms strike.
We are aiming to raise P255,000 to help feed 85 families (~400 people) in the Calapandayan fisher community for two weeks. Each family will receive one 25kg sack of rice, a tray of eggs, noodles, canned goods, and coffee. This is the equivalent of about P3,000 per family for two weeks.
Your contribution can make an immediate difference for these fisher families adversely affected by the recent typhoons.

Klima't Kapwa, the domain hosting this initiative, is still incubating. In the meantime, we have decided to lend this space to raise funds for the fisher community in Calapandayan featured in Baby Ruth Villarama's film Food Delivery: Fresh from the West Philippine Sea.
We watched the documentary. We were deeply impacted. We felt a strong desire to support.
